How to Look Gorgeous Without Hair Showing, Pt 4
Updated: 4 days ago
The best glow is the glow from within.
We all have it. But sometimes it takes a little coaxing to let it shine through.
This is especially true when your hair is covered. The absence of hair showing puts more visual emphasis on your facial features. Your brows, eyes, and skin take center stage.
I bring you a list of 13 clever tools for looking--and feeling--your best in a headcovering. Some tools are new to stores. Others are simply new to me (and perhaps you?).
Keep reading for some genius, life-changing tips!
This is brilliant--literally. Finally, a makeup remover that doesn't redden or irritate your eyes. (Some I've used before outright sting.)
Lumify's micellar water is a standout winner. As the packaging says, it's designed to "cleanse, moisturize, brighten."
I also love Lumify's redness-reducing eyedrops. They're great for events when you're taking lots of pictures.
You likely have an eye mask for sleep. Now it's time your lips had one, too.
Laneige's dreamy overnight lip masks create a pillowy soft feel on lips.
After using them, I find I wake up with clearer definition along the lipline, and a smooth surface for applying my favorite tinted balm stain.
Spare your lovely fingernails, and let this soft silicone scrubber lather your shampoo.
It creates a soft, massaging effect that leaves your scalp feeling extra clean. The handle makes it easy to use and store.
For years I used regular artificial tears to hydrate dry eyes. Lately I've gotten serious and started using gel eye drops. They actually hydrate, and the comfort lasts for hours.
With my hair under wraps, red or dry eyes become more noticeable. I apply one drop before bed, and then another upon waking (ok fine... upon hitting the snooze button).
The result: bright, fresh eyes that look awake and youthful.
This DCL Balancing Cleanser was a recent recommendation by my dermatologist. It has micro beads that gently exfoliate and prevent acne breakouts.
This is a perfect way to gently exfoliate sensitive skin.
It's new to my routine, and certainly a keeper.
Here is another winning recommendation from my derm. She uses it on patients before in-office procedures. It cleanses your skin, and also prevents acne breakouts.
There are many brands selling hypochlorous acid. I prefer this brand on Amazon for its affordable price-point. You may prefer the Tower 28 formula sold at Sephora (pictured in the red bottle).
I am such a huge fan of disposable mascara wands.
They work wonders for all manner of beauty purposes: removing mascara clumps, taming brows, smoothing brow gel, and even reigning in hairline strays.
I order them in bulk from Amazon here. Best part: the spoolie heads are bendable!
These lip butter balms by Summer Fridays are a delight. The flavors are a (no-sugar, no-calorie) treat. They add a luminous tint of color.
My favorite part is that the tubes are generously sized, yet easy to stash in your purse or wallet when you're on the go.
Pictured: vanilla beige, cherry, and sweet mint.
How is this related to headcovering, you ask? Well, I'll confess how. Sometimes I let my hands get so dry, they'll actually scratch delicate scarf fabrics like silk and tencel.
A deeply hydrating hand mask keeps all parties out of danger.
I also love these Aveeno hand masks, since you can use your smartphone while wearing them!
Yes literally: brows for days! Covering your hair really places visual focus on your facial features, and your brows become center stage.
Apply Revlon's Semi-Permanent Brow Ink, and your brows are set for the next three days!
I have both the blonde and soft brown shades. Bonus: the tint is easy to remove if you don't like the effect.
Why didn't anyone think of this sooner?
Dove's new Whole Body Deo and Anti-Friction stick is genius. Use it on underarms, between toes, and anywhere you need it.
Keep your pout, and the skin just around it, looking plump and youthful. How, you ask? By using SPF.
This mineral lip sunscreen by playful suncare brand Sun Bum does just the trick. It's free of chemical sunscreen ingredients, so it wont irritate sensitive skin.
Simply layer it underneath your favorite lip color, or wear the tinted red shade on its own.
"Micro" is quite the buzzword these days, isn't it?
These little tweezer-style brow scissors by Revlon help put the finishing, framing touch on your brows.
They're the newest addition to my self-care routine, and definitely a keeper.
And last but not least...
Quit sugar now. Seriously, it's not doing you any favors.
Sugary foods are known to break down elastin in your skin. This is not flattering.
If you're craving a treat, instead choose something naturally sweet. I like strawberries, dark chocolate, and honey. Your skin will thank you, and you'll have more energy and sleep better, too.
